Q: How did God rise from the dead?
A: Dear Nicole,
Thank you for a very good question.

The Bible tells us that God alone has life in Himself. Jesus said “For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself” (John 5:26). He said later that “I lay down my life that I may take it up again” (John 10:17). Jesus rose from the dead because He conquered sin and death, the wages of sin, by His sacrifice. Because of His resurrection from the dead, He now promises life to all who have died trusting in Him. He says “I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades” (Revelation 1:18). Hades means the grave. Jesus promises to unlock the graves of all who died believing in Him. That’s why the Bible says “And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13). Make sure YOU have the Son of God by asking Jesus into your heart every day and choosing to live for Him.

Thanks for writing, and remember, there's never been a better time to share Jesus!

Your friend,
Pastor Howard
