Ryan (9)
Q: My uncles were talking about we should pray or worship directly to GOD the father or jesus?
A: Dear Ryan,
Thanks for such a good question. It is one of those kind of questions that concerns us more than God, I think. Jesus said “You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.” (Matthew 4:10). But the Bible also tells us that “God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11). So Jesus says worship God, and God says worship Jesus. Of course, Jesus is God, the Son, and the Bible says that God the Father receives glory when Jesus is worshiped.

When it comes to prayer, Jesus taught us to direct our prayers to the Father – “Our Father….” We find most of the prayers in the New Testament directed toward God the Father. Steven, however, prayed to Jesus in Acts 7:59-60, so it isn’t wrong, or unacceptable to God, to pray to Jesus.

Thanks for writing, and remember, there's never been a better time to share Jesus!

Your friend,
Pastor Howard
