Sarah T (10)
Q: What year was jesus born in
A: Dear Sarah T,
We’re glad you’re enjoying Kids’ TimeJ The answer is that Jesus was born in the year 4 B.C. , which is a bit confusing, since “B.C.” means “Before Christ”. It used to be believed that Jesus was born in the year 1 A.D. (“A.D.” stands for the Latin phrase “anno domini” [pronounced ann-oh dom-uh-nee] which means “in the year of our Lord”. Some people think “A.D.” means “after death,” but it doesn’t.). Later they discovered that they had made a mistake, and that Jesus was actually born 4 years earlier. Of course, they had already been numbering the years (like 2007 A.D., 2008 A.D., 2009 A.D., and so on), so they couldn’t go back and change all the past years. So now Jesus was actually born 4 years before Christ!

It’s good to know that even though they made a mistake about when Jesus was born, there is no mistake about the fact that He came to die for our sins so that through Him we can have eternal life!

Thanks for writing, and remember, there's never been a better time to share Jesus!
