Charity (11)
Q: How does Jesus answer our prayers?
A: Dear Charity,
We’re so glad you are enjoying Kids’ Time!

Jesus answers our prayers in different ways. First of all, there is not a sincere prayer that we pray that Jesus does not answer. He and His Father love to hear our prayers. David wrote “I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live” (Psalm 116:1-2). When it says that the Lord “inclined his ear,” that means He leans toward us to hear us; He loves to listen to us; He looks forward to our prayers!

But He does not always answer the way we may want or expect Him too. God is too wise to make a mistake, and too good to give us something that would hurt us. We may ask for things that we think would help us; but if God sees that they will actually harm us in some way that we don’t realize, then His answer may be “No” instead of “Yes”. Or sometimes His answer is “Later”. I remember when I first became a Christian, I asked the Lord to let me work with young people. Well, He said “No. Not now.” He knew I wasn’t ready yet. But now, many years later, here I am the Kids’ Time Pastor, and I work with young people all the time.

There are times when it may seem like He isn’t listening, but don’t be fooled! He always listens, always cares, always does the best for us. The Bible promises us that “No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11).

Thanks for writing, and remember, there's never been a better time to share Jesus!

Your friend,
Pastor Howard
